Canonist is a religion blog authored by Steven I. Weiss.

Miriam Shaviv: "Commonly regarded as the doyen of the Jewish ‘blogosphere’."
Andrew Silow-Carroll: "On a personal crusade to save Judaism and journalism from, well, folks like me."
Jeff Sharlet: "If you crossed Jorge Luis Borges and Isaac Babel, and forced the monstrosity that resulted to write on deadline, you might wind up with something like the journalism of Steven I. Weiss -- erudite and two-fisted, obsessive-compulsive brilliance expressed in broad strokes. Weiss is a case study in how the internet can foster nonfiction writing that's deeper, smarter, and more entertaining than that manufactured through the chain of command at the dailies."
Jeff Jarvis: "One of the most energetic, talented, dedicated people I've met in this world."
Cecile DuBois: "Suprisingly young to have such a good reputation."

I hate the word Jewess! English is a gender neutral language and adding the suffix -ess to denote femaleness is adding a diminutive — it belittles the modified noun and implies that the nuetral version excludes women. The correct usage would be ‘Jewish woman/female’, but feel free to replace it with a less loaded term, such as godess for example. (Just busting your chops SI- I couldn’t resist.)

Haaretz - Please, please, don’t make any more arguments suggesting I call Rachel a goddess.

When my wife and I got to talking about appropriate appellations for her, I suggested my “current wife.” Somehow, she found this less than satifactory.
Her counter-suggestion struck me as a bit over-the-top: my “reason for being”.
All of this, ‘though, is better than one of my poker buddies. While his wife was pregnant he took to calling her “the vessel of my heir”.

I’m David in DC’s wife (and reason for being). “Goddess” doesn’t sound bad at all. Mazel Tov on your engagement, Steven!
