Willie Aames Clears the Air
It’s about ten months since the former child star became an interesting study in Evangelical attitudes when he became a frequent subject on VH1.
It became an even more interesting subject when numerous Christians used the comments section at that post to express their disappointment in what they felt were un-Christian actions by Aames that were portrayed in Celebrity Fit Club 2. Their disappointment wasn’t helped by the fact of Aames’ unexplained disappearance from the Bibleman Christian-superhero series.
Though my attempts at the time to reach Aames (for a story for the semi-defunct Radar) were unsuccessful, we now have a detailed response from the man himself.
That’s right: Willie Aames comments.

Man, is that weird. I am glad I have never heard of this guy before, and I sort of wish I hadn’t heard of him now. In any case, it makes me feel good that yeshiva students aren’t the only ones who can’t spell or write worth a peanut. Also, the phrase “And ‘whoa to them that stand against his chosen people’” made me laugh. I think it’s WOE, Willie Ames.

this guy is an idiot, religious or not. He can’t spell and his grammar is worse…he should have had his “almost comatose” wife check his work before he published it.

I agree, Sue. His religion had nothing to do with my dislike of him on Celebrity Fit Club 2. (Hell, I’m an atheist–why would I care if someone acted “un-Christian?”) He knew there were cameras around and, unlike The Real World or The Surreal Life, he was not being filmed 24/7. He didn’t have to blow a fuse and act like a spoiled child in front of the cameras; he could have waited until the crew left to express his anger.
Also, the phrase “And ‘whoa to them that stand against his chosen people’ made me laugh. I think it’s WOE, Willie Ames.
When I read that line, the follow image sprang, unbidden, into my head: some godless heathens trying to fight a group of Jews, and Willie Aames riding up on a (Christian) horse yelling, “WHOA!”

No wonder Adam Rich was driven to drink.
