The Orthodox Jewish Apprentice

Dan, 31, is the founder of Brody Sport, a designer brand of activewear currently sold in prominent boutique shops and popular department stores. Dan has successfully launched several businesses during his entrepreneurial career beginning with a college venture, NYC cafe “Grandma’s Cookie Jar.” This wholesale retail bakery boutique served as one of the earliest bakery suppliers for the city’s Starbucks stores. Dan also owned YoCookie, a ready-to-bake cookie dough brand shelved in more than 30 grocery stores even before “Grandma’s Cookie Jar” was successfully sold. Dan’s next venture was Swan Hat, one of the only “Made In The USA,â€? headwear companies still in existence today. Swan Hat has a healthy department store base and the company’s Straw Headwear division annually outfits the New York State Teachers Union - Labor Day Fifth Avenue Parade, as well as other union parades and events throughout the country. Dan is passionate about religion and family and feels that you must make an exerted effort for those you love and give back to those in need.
I’ve been working on arranging an interview with Dan for the better part of three weeks now, and NBC’s trying to find work-arounds to the various non-disclosure agreements so that he won’t give up too much, but will give me enough information for an upcoming profile for the JTA.
As it happens, in the meantime, Greg’s been talking all about it, which obviously makes me feel a bit sheepish about my being patient with the network.
If I recall correctly, Brody actually only bought Grandma’s Cookie Jar during my undergraduate career, which followed his by about a decade (it’s one of the eateries serving the Yeshiva University community), and didn’t launch it.
Greg says this Lee guy is also potentially an observant Jew, which I hadn’t heard until I just read his post ten days late. Which is why I’m too-late adding Greg to my sidebar.

Thanks!
Word on Lee is that he went to HAFTR, wears a yarmulka a bit more prominently than Daniel.
Daniel has family in Baltimore, I got to talk to them last week and got some good background from the family’s perspective.

I hear that Lee is a HAFTR alum.
I wrote about Brody taking over the Grandmas after the original Grandpa retired. I remember then how the brodys came with big business on their minds and compromising on the quality of their products. Though everyone is raving about Dan, and i think its great and have nothing against him, people got upset at me for blogging that his muffins sucked.
